It does not matter if you clean your house repeatedly, they will come out of no where and multiply. They can and will eat anything from paper to whatever and all they need is water to multiply.
Advion, is a great product to help kill them down and get rid of them.
Advion basically is a gel or you can get the powder but the gel is better especially if you have kids or pets since you can stick it up high or behind shelving, pictures, above doors and around window.
This is not like other gels or killers because it has no smell to it which is nice.
Advion kills them quickly when they eat it and bring it back to their nest. Once they died, the others will eat them and basically it will kill them also.
You will have to put it out again ever couple months to help keep them down until they are gone but it is always best to keep it around to kill any stragglers that my come back or come around.
