Things went really well with the Krystexxa infusion. It took two hours for the infusion and then an hour of sitting to make sure everything was okay.
The Infusion center was really nice and well knowledgeable. They gave the premeds which was the steroids, benadryl first then they let him sit for about 30 minutes for that to kick in and then they got his IV's ready and got everything going. It was worrisome at the beginning but once things started it went smooth.
He is suppose to go back every 2 weeks until 6 months and then after the 6 months it will be every 4 weeks instead but it just depends on his Uric acid readings at the blood draws.
He has already noticed some improvements with his hands. He can some but bend them and close them again.
His bloodwork shows that it went from a 12.4 uric acid to less than 0.2 which is great. He is getting better slowly but surely. His GFR is now at a 56 which is a major improvement since it was at 43. So he has to go every two weeks for Krystexxa and 48 hours before he has to go for blood work. He is getting his spark back in life again however we are still trying to figure out his job situation with everything going on.
He is also suppose to have flare ups for the first 3 months in which they kicked in a week after his first infusion and instead of it going from one place to another it has hit all the joints he normally have issues with and it is making it hard for him to get around. We expected this but after the first 3 months he is not suppose to have a flare up if he does it is not suppose to be as bad.
His tophi is slowly closing up but it won't be noticeable until about 3 months in or longer just depends on the body and how things goes.
So over all he is doing better and getting stronger.
